Travel Agent Rewards Programs

Travel agent rewards programs come in two broad kinds: programs that reward the advisor, and programs that give the advisor’s clients extra amenities. Both are designed to keep a supplier at the top of your list.

Luxury hotel brands also run invitation-based advisor programs that add client amenities to bookings. Membership usually depends on the advisor’s agency or consortium affiliation. Ask your agency which programs you can book through.

Choosing Which Programs to Join

  • Join where you sell. Rewards accrue from bookings, so focus on the suppliers your clients already choose.
  • Prefer client value. Programs that add amenities for clients make you more competitive than points for yourself.
  • Read the activity rules. Many programs review production or engagement each year.
  • Keep records. Note which bookings counted toward which program.

Bonus commission promotions appear and disappear throughout the year. Treat them as a tie-breaker between equally good options, never as the reason to recommend a trip. We do not publish incentive amounts; they change constantly and vary by agency.

Rewards Versus Advice

Clients trust advisors who put their interests first. If a rewards program would push you toward a supplier that does not suit a client, the program loses. Many advisors tell clients plainly that suppliers reward agencies and that recommendations are based on fit; that honesty is itself a selling point.

Where to Find Programs

Supplier advisor portals list current programs; your host agency or consortium knows which ones you can access; and the Official Travel Industry Directory lists suppliers to contact. For cruise line programs, see Cruise Industry Discounts. If you are not yet selling, Be a Travel Agent explains how to get started.

Rewards Programs FAQ

Do hotel companies run points programs for travel agents?

Hotel groups more often run recognition programs and training-linked benefits than points programs for agents. Marriott, for example, says its Fam-Tastic stays can earn Marriott Bonvoy points. Some vacation-package and tour companies do run advisor rewards with points.

What is the difference between a rewards program and a commission?

Commission is what a supplier pays the agency for a booking. A rewards program is a separate benefit layer, such as points, recognition, amenities or invitations, that suppliers use to encourage sales.
