Training Can Unlock Better Rates
Some hotel groups tie their best agent rates to training. Marriott says completing its Hotel Excellence! program gives advisors access to its Fam-Tastic rates, and those stays can earn Marriott Bonvoy points. Wyndham limits its personal rate to graduates of Wyndham Wise. A few hours of coursework can pay back on your next site inspection.
Our sister site Travel Industry Training covers these supplier courses alongside destination programs.

Booking a Travel Agent Hotel Rate Correctly
- Book through the channel the hotel company specifies, under your own name.
- Make sure your ID is current and matches the name on the reservation.
- Expect limited availability, especially at peak times.
- Do not combine an agent rate with other offers unless the terms allow it.
- If the hotel cannot verify you at check-in, it may charge a different rate.

What ID do hotels accept for agent rates?
It varies by company. Marriott lists ARC, IATA, IATAN, TIDS or CLIA agency affiliation; Wyndham lists IATA, CLIA, TRUE or ARC cards. Read the policy before you book.
